On January 12, 2011, Space Adventures and the Russian Federal Space Agency announced that orbital space tourism would resume in 2013 with the increase of manned Soyuz launches to the ISS from four to five per year. However, this has not materialized, and the current preferred option, instead of producing an additional Soyuz, would be to extend the duration of an ISS Expedition to one year. This could happen in 2015, paving way for the flight of new spaceflight participants. The name of British singer Sarah Brightman has been mentioned for such an assignment. This publication titled Handbook of space travel and tourism is a unique attempt to address all aspects of space travel and tourism. It gives both conceptual and practical aspects of this new kind of commercial activity. This handbook provides readers with an introductory overview of space tourism, exploration, habitat and advocacy with focus on related timeline of orbital launches. The modern trend of space colonization and its rapid commercialization is covered, including moon as an attractive extra-celestial body. The quasi universal intergalactic denomination is also discussed. This handbook also highlights issues related to survival, adaptation, dress, food, music and medicines used in space. In concrete terms, this is a complete reference book on the subject.
