And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:35

Have you ever wished you had a recipe for the Christian life you could whip up with results pleasing to God? You know, one of those step one step two now add to recipes? Well, there is! The Lord has, through the apostle Peter in his letters to the church, given to each person a step-by-step recipe; He even supplies the key ingredients. Jesus offers you the Bread of Life and the gift of faith to receive it. That gift of salvation and faith starts you off on the right track and keeps you there if you remember to stir it (2 Tim. 1:6).

In He Calls Me Friend, I draw on the custom of offering friendship bread to new neighbors to explain the spiritual truths found in 2 Peter 1. Just as in the physical recipe of friendship bread, the startera key ingredient supplied by the potential friendis vital; you cannot go any further without it. The apostle Peter outlines three things Jesus gives to each new Christian: grace, faith, and precious promises. These make up the starter for the spiritual recipe. Peter encourages you the believer to add to this virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and last but not least, charity. These seven ingredients make up the rest of the recipe.

New believers will benefit from this step-by-step outline of what being a true friend of Christ involves. The book will also encourage women of any age group who are established in the faith to grow spiritually stronger. Following the recipe with care, they will be able to not only serve the sweet bread of heaven in their own home but have enough to share with neighbors they meet along the way.

Autorenporträt
My husband and I have been home missionaries in the US for over 18 years, many of those years have been with North West Baptist Missions . During that time I have traveled with my husband across our country countless times. Our main focus of ministry has been one of helping Pastors and their wives in small churches to disciple those whom the Lord has led to us. As I traveled, God showed me the need for discipleship among women. How could I do that!? To do that I felt I would have to stay put in one place! I couldn't be roaming round everywhere! But the burden persisted and grew. As I tend to do far more often than I care to admit-- my thoughts of ministry and His thoughts of ministry were worlds apart. I began to pray for a ministry which could be just as mobile as the one to which my husband had been called. The Lord answered that prayer, giving me the opportunity to write. It is something I would not have thought of for myself, even though as a child I had dreamed of it often.

During these 18 years I have written discipleship materials for The Silent Word, a ministry to the deaf. During my daughters deployment to Afghanistan I authored a newsletter for her Company using this opportunity to encourage and witness when I could. I have also written numerous Christian growth studies for groups in the areas where we have served.

God has chosen to bring us back to South Carolina now and has given us both works here for him. Currently I teach a weekly Ladies Bible Study in our home church: Temple Baptist of Anderson, and I have also written a Devotional booklet for shut-ins for the church. During the fall I teach Bible Stories and Memory Verses for Good News Clubs in two different Elementary Schools in our area.

This study book started as a personal devotion of my own and as is the case so many times, God says "now that you have it-share it with others". It is my desire that you will be able to study through this book and draw from it a better understanding of the position you have been given in Christ. As a child of the King you are truly a Princess of His kingdom!
