The author, Dr. Kristi Godwin, is a South Georgia native who began writing at age nine. She was first published at age 12, won several writing awards as a child, and published her first anthology at age 17. She is an avid reader who loves to learn and explore a variety of subjects, and earned degrees in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Public Administration in her adulthood. She also is passionate about human rights and the ethical treatment of animals, and has been an activist in both areas throughout her life. She founded a non-profit organization in 2008 geared toward inner-city, at-risk youth, and worked as a licensed therapist with troubled children and youth for over a decade. Dr. Godwin is also the mother of four children and resides with her children and pets in Georgia. She currently works as a therapist with women who have a history of trauma, and is active in ministry in her community.
