If the cruel reality which was instituted by law and was so defended through brute force by the past Apartheid South African system is as this writing by Mzi states, why must that be forgotten, by those who fought with spirit, limb and mind against it with the objective to defeat and destroy it; or why must its perpetrators, who now become the citizens of the new dispensation, be encouraged or allowed to forget that past? Produktbeschreibung
If ever such a brute reality is lived through for three centuries, and so maims, damages and destroys the minds and hearts of citizens and kills its victims with impunity, do its perpetrators find a way to forgive themselves, as faith demands that those who invest the last thing they have, their lives, must also forgive themselves? Mzi is asking these questions without asking them, but asks them between the lines, when he skilfully keeps as close as possible to the truths of that past. He asks us and demands from us, to fathom those truths, lest they re-emerge in the future, because they were not considered and, therefore they can. Professor. Mongane Wally Serote ~ South Africa National Laureate

Autorenporträt
The events in the book start in Gqeberha and end in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth, the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The adventures of the author create a cauldron of intrigue within and from outside the fighting units, conflict, fear, mistrust, unpredictability of state, lies and counter lies. All these come to a pot of tension, uncertainty and dogged determination to fight on. This explodes into death, disappearances of comrades, toy-toying and necklacing. The compelling force within this work is that it has the real people, real events, real and imagined fears that haunt each episode. The art of the author in creating the kind of edge-of-the-seat stuff that brings the reality of the 1980's back into sharp focus and his ability to be on both sides of the conflict fuels the tension and allow his story to be palpably frightening and scotching in its hot events and actions of characters. The fight against oppressive rule by oppressive regime and machinery is the theme that permeates the book. The events are snippets of such fights. The meetings at night in dark rooms, the toy-toying and funerals, the crossing of borders and information sharing are kinds of ammunition the comrades need to shape their warring strategies. The determination to take the BOERS on their game was not only brave but was also suicidal from a number of fronts. It is this determination and belief in themselves that the comrades had a conviction that was almost religious that they would overcome. With the external African National Congress there was an air of self-reliance and hope that their efforts would never be in vain. A must to read about the history and the realities of South Africa in a divided society which should never be forgotten. Professor. Mzobanzi Mzobz Mboya - Ilitha Publishers
