Alley called me when she was just five years old and when I picked up the phone, she said. "Hi Granddad, I've got a new donut." And with that, she promptly hung up! This phone call started me on the road to writing children's books, and I must thank my grand daughter Alley for this.

Those unforgettable words naturally had to become the title of my first book, so, thank you Alley for being the inspiration of my first attempts at writing children's books. I hope you enjoy it, and remember Alley, and all you kids out there, never, ever be tempted to show a delicious donut to your pet!
