Autorenporträt

Patricia Kramer has a BA (Hons) in Paleolithic Archeology from the University of Cape Town. In 2004, an opportunity to study corbelled buildings in the Karoo set her on a new path, historic archeology. She felt a deep connection to these buildings of the early trekboers, and her resultant fieldwork led to a master's degree and the publication of her first book, Corbelled Buildings of the Great Karoo. Since then, Patricia and her husband, painter John Kramer, have travelled extensively throughout the Karoo in search of subject material. She is actively involved in the Vernacular Architecture Society of South Africa, working with the Karoo group as well as the measuring group, which records historic buildings that are in danger of collapse or demolition.
