Autorenporträt
Austrian psychiatrist and novelist Herbert Silberer (1882-1923) is renowned for his writings on symbolism, alchemy, and the connection between psychology and mysticism. The study of symbols and their interpretation in the context of psychology was the main subject of Silberer. He looked into the relationships between the unconscious mind, dreams, and the occultic and alchemical traditions' use of symbolic language. According to Silberer, these symbols acted as a link between the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind, shedding light on both individual and societal development. Early developments of psychoanalysis were influenced by Silberer's works on symbols and the connection between psychology and mysticism. His research set the path for further investigation into the relationships between esoteric practices, the unconscious mind, and psychotherapy. Sadly, Silberer's life was tragically cut short when he committed himself in 1923. Despite his untimely passing, individuals who are interested in the nexus of psychology, mysticism, and esoteric traditions continue to research and value his contributions to the study of psychology and his examination of symbols.
