Highway 126.
Sheriff Joe Ganley patrols this long and lonely stretch of road. He thinks of it as his highway. He's a pillar of the community, a family man, a weight-lifting sadist, a duplicitous drug dealer, a man badly addicted to pharmaceutical-grade cocaine.
He has connections. One of them is local loser and cold-blooded killer Luis "Sapo" Huerta. Working in unison, Huerta and Ganley are small-time kingpins pouring their product straight into the insatiable drug-hunger of Los Angeles.
After committing a high-profile murder, Huerta needs money and needs it fast. Who better to squeeze than his number-one dealer, the retired soap opera actor and former "Cocaine King of Hollywood" Billy Dolan? Armed to the teeth, Huerta and Ganley descend upon the Dolan orange grove--a place where generations have drawn fruit from the loamy soil, and where evil and corruption took root long ago.
Highway 126: Something terrible happened here, once upon a time...
And it's about to happen again.
In Highway 126 Eddie Mulnix has created a brutal and uncompromising thriller that blurs the lines between crime fiction, pulp noir, and horror.
"The Thompson-esque Highway 126, a tale of the south side of the law filled with random violence and dope, is capped by an even more violent surprise ending...it's a damned good read, that's for sure. This copy has been in the bathroom, on the nightstand, and a welcome distraction from TV in the living room. Mulnix also wrote the amazingly perverse criminal romp Cleft , and if you haven't caught that one yet, catch it now." -Paniscus Revue
