Philip Henry Stanhope Mahon, 5th Earl of Stanhope (18051875)Viscount Mahon between 1816 and 1855was a British politician and historian. He greatly contributed to cultural causes and was known for his historical writings. Two of his most important works are Life of Belisarius (1829) and History of the War of Succession in Spain (1832).
