The series "Faces of the Great" is a complex and fascinating biographies of major artists - emigrants and people from emigrant families. This is a story about people who, despite the difficulties of emigrant life, reached the pinnacle of their creative activity and wrote their names in the history of world art. Peggy (Marguerite) Guggenheim (1898 - 1979) was not just the largest philanthropist and one of the most prominent collectors of the last century. "She literally put modern art on its feet," wrote The New York Times. It was Peggy who stood at the origins of what a few years later resulted in a whole movement - abstract expressionism. Her famous art collection is located in one of her palazzos in Venice, where Peggy lived in recent years. Illustrations by Alexander Steinberg.
