Frank Wilson Blackmar (1854–1931) was an eminent American sociologist, historian, and educator, principally remembered for his comprehensive work in the field of sociology. Born in Springfield, Pennsylvania, Blackmar earned his BA degree at the University of the State of Kansas in 1889 and later obtained his MA and Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University. He went on to become a professor and later the head of the Department of History and Sociology at the University of Kansas, where he also served as the director of the Summer Session. Blackmar's contributions to academia notably include the establishment of the Kansas State Historical Society.
