Hoda Shaarawi (1879-1947) is one of the pioneers of the Egyptian and Arab women movement. She is Nour Al -Huda Sultan, the daughter of Muhammad Sultan Pasha, one of the great owners in Upper Egypt and one of the leaders of the Reform Movement in the nineteenth century. Her father died at the age of five and raised under the auspices of her mother, Iqbal, who was of Circassian origin. In the year 1892, she married her cousin and the guardian of Ali Shaarawi, one of the founders of the Wafd Party who led the battle against the English occupation, and was a member of the delegation that met the British accredited on November 13, 1918 to demand the end of martial law in Egypt after the First World War.
