Bosley Crowther, acknowledged dean of motion picture critics, is the well-known film critic for the New York Times. He is the author of The Lion's Share, published in 1957, as well as numerous magazine articles on the entertainment world.After his graduation from Princeton in 1928, Mr. Crowther worked as a reporter for the New York Times. In 1940 he was appointed its screen critic, and in 1953 won the first Critics Award of the Screen Directors Guild. Over the past two decades he has distinguished himself as an ardent and consistent champion of greater freedom of the screen: the elimination of statutory censorship and more mature and responsible expression.
