He patterned his fictional writing style after his favorite authors. From one he learned to make his stories unique throughout. From another, he learned to treat readers as equal partners in the story collaboration process by showing rather than telling them what is taking place so they can use their imaginations to base their opinion on their own life experiences rather than accepting Mike¿s personal views. Best of all, they will enjoy what he learned from Poe when he was twelve. They will never know for sure what is coming next, but when the story ends and they look back, they will find all of the clues necessary to guess the ending were there in plain sight.
