Autorenporträt

Fred Chance was born in Palestine, Texas, in 1930. He moved to Dallas, Texas, when he was thirteen years old. That is when he first saw Billie Jean Leonard. She was eleven years old at that time. Fred carried her books to school on and off for a number of years. Fred went to the navy for four years and when he got discharged, he asked Billie to marry him. But she turned him down. Both, later on, got married to different mates. Both of their loved ones passed away, and they were reunited after seventy-two years. Fred was a police officer for thirty-two years and rose to the rank of chief of police. He later owned a locksmith company. He often said if he could not lock the crook up, he would lock them out. Billie Jean was an employment consultant and housewife.
