Few know New Zealand's backcountry and byways, and the hunters who often inhabit them, as well as Connor McKenzie. Throughout his 50-plus years of hunting high-jinks, misadventures and 'success stories', he has amassed all sorts of yarns - always worth the telling, usually hard-case and, sometimes, even true. Connor has contributed stories to NZ Outdoor Hunting Magazine and many other publications over the years. Illustrated with photos throughout, this motley collection is gamey, blokey and told in the author's legendary laconic style.

Autorenporträt
Connor McKenzie began hunting in the early 1950s when the conquest of Everest and the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II were making headlines. In the 1960s, he toured the United States and Canada, hunting moose, elk, mule deer and whitetail - with what he deems 'varying degrees of success'. He is opposed to the use of 1080, felling native timber and over-zealous gun laws. Connor has enjoyed success as a writer for many years, having had many stories and several books published. Much of his work is based on actual experiences - both here and overseas. Today, Connor lives in the Bay of Plenty, still actively hunting with no thoughts of retirement.
