Their father suffered with night terrors, reliving the horror of serving as an Army officer in the Batttle of Cherbourg, in World War II. Since he wasn't able to work, he lost his construction company. Maggie and Joey went from riches to rags and found a way to escape this sudden change, by venturing into dangerous surroundings No matter the danger Maggie confronted, she learned to fight back, especially when it concerned the safety of her little brother, Joey.

Autorenporträt
My maiden name was Sharon Brown. I used Maggie in this story, because my father had wanted to give me the name, "Margaret."

My mother refused and wanted to name me after the flower, "Rose of Sharon." In fact, she planted this rose bush near the front porch. The bush would attract hummingbirds.

Thanks to the Veteran's Administration, I was able to go to college and become a grade school teacher.
