As more parents across the world choose immersion pre-schooling for their children, in order to benefit from its linguistic, educational, and cultural benefits, this book fulfils an urgent need to increase the recognition of the sector, and explore the challenges it faces. Contributors discuss the difference between monolingual and bilingual programmes, the importance of training in immersion methodology, the need to adapt existing pre-school pedagogy, and the need for differentiated provision in order to optimise the educational benefits for all. This book was published as a special issue of International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism.
