DOCTOR NORA KELLY IS DRAWN BACK INTO HER LIFE DURING A PERILOUS QUEST to solve the mystery of serial deaths occurring at Oakland City Hospital.
Wrestling with grief and self-doubt after the traumatic loss of her child and husband, Nora is plunged into an all-consuming puzzle that begins when a corpse is discovered in the hospital's administrative suite. It appears to be death by suicide -- at first.
But after several mysterious deaths occur among the staff, Nora begins to suspect that an elusive serial murderer is roaming the hospital. Her risky pursuit of the truth takes twists and turns that lead her to a covert narcotics scheme within the hospital and shocking revelations about her colleagues.
Finally, when she puts the puzzle together and confronts the killer, Nora must use her diagnostic acumen to escape the killer's revenge. Her self-redemptive quest to solve the mystery also unearths a deeply personal and painful questionone that reaches into the core of who she is and what she believes.

Jodi Halpern, MD, author of From Detached Concern to Empathy: Humanizing Medical Practice
