Author Maureen Pollard is also a registered social worker specializing in grief and trauma care, she's a compassion fatigue and resilience specialist, an educator, speaker and workshop facilitator, and a singer-songwriter who plays a little guitar. She always enjoyed a Great Big Sea concert, and she's grateful for their song Yankee Sailor, which provided the spark of inspiration for this tale.
