This is a book in which the author presents some opinions written in English about Soviet literature. That is, the literature that appeared in Russia since the outbreak of the Communist Revolution in 1917. This does not mean that he is talking about the literature that appeared in all parts of the Soviet Union. Because each region has its own literature, and modern Russia has encouraged these regional literatures, but these literatures differ in their language and were not written in the Russian language, while the discussion in this book deals with the literatures that appeared in Soviet Russia and were written in the Russian language. It is natural that Soviet literature is a continuation of the trend of Russian literature that existed before World War I and before the Communist Revolution, but there is a fact that we cannot ignore, that that Russian revolution renewed all aspects of Russian life, be it social, political, and economic, and had its impact on culture and literature. Therefore, we can say: The history of Soviet literature is the history of the attempts made by the communist government to create a type of literature consistent with its purposes and programs, and hence these attempts differed according to the goals and programs of the communists.
