Autorenporträt
British novelist Evelyn Ward Everett-Green (17 November 1856 - 23 April 1932) is renowned for her prodigious body of work, which spans many genres throughout the course of her career. She started off writing inspirational and religious children's books before moving on to historical fiction for older girls and then venturing into adult romance romances. Evelyn, who was born in London and was raised by Methodists, showed early promise as a storyteller. She got her schooling at home and then obtained a scholarship to attend Bedford College and Gower Street Preparatory School. Although they briefly lived at Battramsley near Lymington, Hampshire, during World War I, Evelyn spent the last part of her life there with her partner Catherine Mainwaring Sladen. Evelyn met up with her sister and spoke with publishers thanks to her yearly trips to England. She was buried at the British Cemetery in Madeira and actively engaged in the Anglican community. Her writings are now valued more for their social context insights than for their literary merit.
