It is a story of a girl, through no fault of her own, found herself in the hands of the social services and grew up in a home from the age of just 2 weeks after her parents gave her up to be brought up in care. It tells about the abuse she suffered at the hands of people who should have protected her. Somehow she survived the ordeal and found complete happiness with a man she loved dearly; life was great, plenty of money the complete opposite to what she had been use to. Then with a chance of a working holiday in South Africa everything was great, Only to be in the wrong place at the wrong time What happened to her next would of finished off the toughest of people, and yet against all the odds she survived! After the trauma of the ordeal, her marriage failed. This plunged her into a state of homelessness that lasted for 4 years. After an unsuccessful, yet very serious suicide attempt she built her life up from nothing ..Only to find she had advanced pancreatic cancer and given a month to live! Little did she know what mountains she would have to climb to overcome the adversities she faced, not just once but on numerous occasions. Its a story of survival, determination and outstanding courage.

My name is Rene Walmsley I was born in Leland, Lancashire on the 10th February 1959. I have 2 sisters and 4 brothers (Francis deceased as a baby) I was a twin, and I know from stories from family members we were a handful. Both my parents are also deceased and I know my mother would be proud of what I have achieved in having a book published, she also would have laughed, and said in her lovely Lancashire accent, well who`d have thought it, our Ged has written a book! I miss my mother. We grew up in a loving environment although we didn't have a lot of material possessions, everyone was in the same boat back then, yet this made for a secure and happy place to be, a safe place to be. I have a cat called Ellie, or Ellie belly because she has got a huge belly, she can get out of the cat flap in one go, her head goes first then she waits a second the she drags the rest of her body through. We love her though. People say there is a book in everyone. I still do not know if this is true. I left school at 16 with nothing, no formal qualifications. I was a naughty boy and kicked against authority, in all honesty I think I still do that to a degree. And now I'm here after writing my first book, writing this short biography about myself, and I am finding it harder that writing the book! I just see myself as an average person, nothing special, I can't really say that I have achieved anything of great significance to the extent that it has made people sit up and ask who I was. I have 5 lovely children and 3 grandchildren who I love dearly. I have known what it is like to struggle, and still do for that matter, financially, emotionally and in other ways. I try to keep a positive outlook although this is not always possible. I have dreams, and writing a book was certainly not one of them! I like real ale and football; I'm extremely patriotic and I love my country. That's it I don't want to bore you no more!
