This volume sheds new light on the use of quantitative, qualitative and synthetic indicators for the measurement of quality of life in different countries of Latin America. Organized in three parts, the book presents the methodology for the construction of new indicators, discusses quality of urban life from a geographical perspective, and examines quality of life of different populations. The book focuses on the social, economic, political, geographical and demographic dimensions. It covers a wide range of topics, including the ways to measure social, political and spatial inequalities, the changes in urban quality of life, the construction of a synthetic indicator for the assessment of habitability, the measuring of spatial segregation in midsize and smaller cities by using thematic cartography and synthesis maps, and the concept of habitability. It includes research conducted on the quality of life of different population groups: working boys and girls, high-school students, and older people.

Argentinean. Doctorate in Political Science (USAL), Argentina. Post-doctoral studies - CIMESS (University of Florence), Italy. Masters in Political Science (IDAES-UNSAM). Bachelors in Social Services. Director of UNI-COM (University-Community Relations) at the School of Social Sciences at the National University of Lomas de Zamora. She is a full-time professor at graduate and undergraduate levels, and a research professor in the School of Social Sciences at the National University of Lomas de Zamora, and at the School of Social Sciences at the University of Palermo. She is professor at the National University of La Matanza, Information Officer in Human Development and Capability Association. Vice-president of external affairs at International Society for Quality of Life Studies. Director and reviewer of research papers and doctoral theses at various universities in several countries throughout Latin America. CONEAU (National Commission for University Evaluation and Accreditation) peerreviewer for the Ministry of Education, Argentina. She has written books, book chapters, and scientific articles in Spanish and English on areas of interest, including: quality of life, research methodology, youth, and social work.
