"Induction technology is a living, continuously developing entity". This was the leitmotif even for the foreword to the first edition, published in 2009, of this specialist title for engineers, technicians and practitioners in industrial melting shops and foundries. It is, therefore, only logical that Vulkan-Verlag now announce for the autumn of 2018 the launch of the 3rd edition of this standard work, following the broad acclaim accorded the – now out of print – 2nd edition of 2013. The basic concept of the book remains unchanged: an introductory examination of the fundamentals of the induction process, a description of system hardware and a discussion of melting technology are followed by detailed concentration on the metallurgical process-engineering of induction facilities for melting, temperature maintenance and casting. Particular attention is devoted, among the developments of the past five years, to the intricacies of the ongoing CO2 controversy and to the recovery and utilisation of waste heat.
