Laura was born where Ohio farm country meets the great lakes. She grew up on a small family farm, near Fremont, Ohio. She graduated from Lakota High School then pursued a career in law enforcement. After receiving a degree in criminal justice she worked for Tiffin Police Department. In 2008 she left the Bryan Police Department to pursue her passion for writing. Laura married Ben Walkup from rural Pioneer where they reside and raise their five children. Laura is a 2011 & 2012 National Novel Writing Month "WINNER". With her stories "Island of paradise: The Lost Civilization of Renuu" and "Dark Wyoming Skies"
