Auguste Émile Faguet (17 December 1847 - 7 June 1916) was a French literary critic and author. Faguet was born in La Roche-sur-Yon, Vendée, and received his education at Paris' École Normale Supérieure. Their writing assists people in connecting with and understanding one another. The author's works are full of originality and passion, transporting readers to other realms and emotions. After teaching in La Rochelle and Bordeaux, he returned to Paris to work as an assistant professor of poetry at the university level. Faguet was appointed professor in 1897. He was elected to the Académie française in 1900 and was awarded the Légion d'honneur the following year. Faguet was the Soleil's dramatic critic; from 1892 to 1896, he was the Revue Bleue's literary critic; and in 1896, he replaced Jules Lemaître on the Journal des débats. Faguet died in Paris at the age of 68.
