Life, death, politics and other stuff (in fairly clear language) from a writer who's dealt with French Classical Tragedy, Chinese lyric poetry - and Mae West. Richard Helfer has a PhD in Theatre. He's done verse translations of Corneille and Racine and has had poems in various literary journals. He also was a frequent freelance contributor to 'The National Lampoon' in its good years. He likes clear poems that don't have to be figured out - which doesn't mean shallow, just clear.
