Sigurður Pálsson was born in 1948 in Skinnastadur, Iceland. A writer, translator, professor and film producer, he won the Icelandic Literary Award in 2007, the same year he was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite by the President of France. Martin Regal lives in Reykjavik and teaches at the University of Iceland. His translation of Gisli Sursson's Saga and the Saga of the People of Eyri was published by Penguin Classics in 2003 (ISBN 9780140447729).

Autorenporträt
The Icelandic poet, novelist, playwright and translator Sigurdur Palsson has worked as a professor and cinema producer. His poetry has been translated into ten languages. He is also the author of three acclaimed novels and a book of memoirs. He's produced award-winning features and directed TV films and several theatre plays. He's translated 22 titles from French into Icelandic and 2 plays by Arthur Miller. Palsson received the Icelandic Literature Award in 2007 and was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1990. In 2007 he was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite.
