The events of the novel take place in a dramatic, tragic framework, through which it criticizes the idea of all religions and rejects the idea of the existence of a creator or god for this universe, denying this idea. The novel emphasizes the importance of science and logic and the necessity of their victory over superstitions, metaphysics and delusions of religions and gods, and ends with the victory of science over religion and faith.
