Produktbeschreibung
The number of Muslims in Europe is growing, as is the need for Islamic education and training institutions. The integration of Islamic theology and religious education into European higher education creates challenges for both sides. Özdil explains the history of Islamic theology and law schools in Islam and presents Centres of Islamic Studies in Europe and in the Islamic world. In doing so, he provides an overview of 31 institutions in 13 countries. One focus of his research deals with questions relating to the constitutions of Islamic professorships in Germany, which have still not been satisfactorily answered. Islamic chairs have already been institutionally rooted at several universities, a factor that the author discusses in detail. The volume includes a comprehensive appendix with summaries, addresses and further information on the educational institutions examined.
