Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Philosophy - Practical (Ethics, Aesthetics, Culture, Nature, Right, ...), grade: 1.0, LMU Munich, language: English, abstract: This paper seeks to address the role of trust in jealousy. A key distinction is made between fears, a lack of trust, and insecurities. It seems that a lack of self-trust arises both due to insecurities and fear, that both get provoked from deleterious cognitive patterns, negative or lack of life experience, or -knowledge. The paper provides arguments and evidence to support the view that jealousy involves a lack of (self-)trust because jealousy is an evaluative feeling and an episodically occurring state assigned to a specific source (cause) and reflects inner experiences. Furthermore, it is argued that an adjusted self tends more to feel jealous than an unadjusted self.
