JETHAL, VILLAGE OF RECOVERY a Photography Book by JULIAN BOUND
From National Geographic contributor and award winning documentary photographer Julian Bound, the story of one village's recovery following the devastation of Nepal's 2015 earthquake.
Near the Tibetan border in the northern reaches of Nepal, Jethal village sits beneath the snow-capped peaks of the Langtang and Gaurishankar mountains of the Himalaya. Severely damaged in the Nepal earthquakes of 25th April and 12th May 2015, Jethal's story of relief and recovery is a testament of a community's successful battle against adversity, where aided by the kindness, compassion and generosity of others led not only to the rebuilding of an entire village but also the reconstruction of four schools, the building of a new school and a medical health post within the heart of Jethal.
Documented over a period of eighteen months, 'Jethal, Village of Recovery' is a photographic account of Jethal's renewal assisted by, Germany's UKALO, the Singapore Red Cross, the Romanian Mountain Club, Norway's 'Close To My Heart' and the international volunteers who gave their time and energy to help the people of Jethal village, Sindhupalchowk, Nepal.
