On his way home he joins his friends in their cricket match on the road. With the butter safely tucked beneath his cap, he begins to play. It's hot and the butter soon begins to melt. That doesn't bother Jim.

The bus heading their way does mean an end to play. But while Jimbo's friends all dash off the road to safety, he trips on his untied shoe lace.

Teena Raffa-Mulligan is a West Australian author who has figured out some unusual remedies for wrinkles, the fuel to launch an Aussie grandpa into space and a trick to remind an elephant boy not to go with strangers who pretend to be friends.

Teena writes tales to entertain all ages and her publications include poems, short stories, picture books and novels. She has also enjoyed a long career in journalism.

Teena says one of the best things about being a children's author is visiting schools to encourage young people to write their own stories.

She has three grown up children with families of their own who provide plenty of inspiration for new stories.
