Selim Gürgen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGU), located in Eskişehir, Turkey. Additionally, he serves as the Director of Eskişehir Vocational School within ESOGU and is as an Executive Board Member of the Aerospace Technologies Research Center. Dr. Gürgen has participated in international projects and collaborations, including visits to the University of Wollongong in Australia for a project on smart materials and the University of Aveiro in Portugal for research on cork composites. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a manufacturing engineer at a joint venture of KMWE-Dutch Aero. Throughout his career, Dr. Gürgen has contributed to various industrial and research projects in collaboration with organizations such as Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Fiat Automotive Industry, and the Turkish Air Force. Funding for his projects has been provided by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), the European Union (EU), and other local and international funders. He has a substantial publication record, with numerous articles in refereed international journals, as well as edited and authored books and book chapters. Dr. Gürgen also serves as an editorial member for several international journals. His research interests primarily focus on materials science and manufacturing technologies in the defense and aerospace industries.
