In view of the importance and status of newspapers and journalism, this book enriches the Arab library with a rich history of newspapers and magazines from the beginnings of their inception, from the era of the Pharaohs, Greeks, and Romans, until the middle of the twentieth century, reviewing the minutest details of the beginnings of the emergence of a large number of newspapers and magazines. The author of the book is Mr. Abdullah Hussein, who worked in journalism, law, and politics and excelled in all of them. But his journalistic spirit overshadowed the other two aspects, until he became at the forefront of journalism. His writings were characterized by balance, good understanding, precision of thinking, integrity of intent, and beauty of style. Fate decreed that his last work in his life would be this book, the first edition of which was published in 1948, in which he chronicled the press and talked to us about it in science and art.
