I was 11 of 13 siblings. We grew up on a farm. We were raised to take care of one another. My mom died when I was 11 years old. It was Christmas Eve. That was very hard for me. We were raised to go to church and Sunday School. My oldest sister was 14 years old. We had to milk cows, slop hogs, cook, and clean. My brothers, ages 9 and 7 helped as well. My youngest sister was 4 years old. We made it with the help of the Lord. We went to the field to pick peas and okra. We canned food and made our own bread. We would walk to the store and have to carry a 50lb bag of flour, along with eggs and other necessities. We even cut our own wood for fire.
