This book contains a selection of inspirational poems written over a period of forty years. Its Just Impossible was her first poem/song and came one dark, dreadful day when the author doubted she could go on. The poem was a miracle that took the sting out of the emotional pain she experienced and turned her weeping into joy.
This collection of poems covers many topics: self-worth, hope, grace, encouragement, laughter, gratitude, praise, and glory to our Creator and Redeemer. Apart from Him, not one poem would have been written, because the author was simply not capable.

Autorenporträt
Lorene, a poor student with a disability, dropped out of high school three weeks into her third year. Education was not important to her. Dysfunction was an unknown word in her limited vocabulary. Escaping the family abuse and alcoholism, which created fear and hopelessness, in the younger years drove her into an early marriage. The route she took at seventeen, marrying a twenty-year-old soldier she hardly knew, seemed to be her only way of escape. The day of the wedding, the newlyweds left for their future home in California.

Within a month, Lorene realized her husband was an alcoholic. After meeting her new mother-in-law and sisters, questions arose regarding their mental health. His three siblings all had mental disorders. Eight years into the marriage, her husband was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia while serving in Morocco. Discharge came after months in a military hospital. With no one to turn, to she promised God she would serve Him if He would get her out of Morocco.

God became her source of comfort. Obeying the call to teach a Sunday school class when she knew little more than where the first and last books of the Bible could be found, she began to read and study the Scriptures. It became a challenge to explain the old King James Scripture to children. Using word pictures to teach the children worked well. In a short time, she was teaching three times a week and was in a one-on-one Bible study with a godly mentor.

Later Lorene began to write skits and several of her church's Christmas programs. Seek Ye First - The Lord was published in 1980. She also wrote three missionary stories for children based on true stories.

Her dream of getting a college diploma materialized in May 1996 when she graduated, after making the honor roll three semesters, with an AA in general education at Shasta College.

The marriage lasted fifty-eight years by the grace of God and the support of her church family and children. In 2010 he passed into the presence of his Lord. She praised God that he now had a sound mind and was free of the paranoia that plagued him for most of his adult life.
