In human society, we perceive God not to be a God who can judge or cast one into hellfire. All the theories about hell are mere speculations in modern minds or throughout all generations of men. We understand there is life after death, but we don't perceive that we can be cast into hellfire as a judgment for our sins. Do you see hell and heaven as good judgments from God? If we believe there is a God in heaven, then we ought to think of this God as a person with principles and a way in which He disciplines wrong. I have come to believe that when one disciplines, for example, their children, it could be explained as good judgment.
One of the greatest truths about God is that He is love. God reveals His love to us in different ways. We cannot imagine God to be a God who destroys or brings terrible judgment. To be honest, most of us know the love side of God, not the judgment side. This is good, but we must not forget that God is a judge, and as a judge, He has to do some things according to justice. For example, when men sinned and God wanted to judge them, there was an imbalance in the justice system of heaven for this reason:
· Judgment says, "The wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23)
· Mercy says, "Mercy prevails over judgment." (James 2:13)
· Love would say, "Men cannot die because You love them."
Now, to balance these three, God decided to leave His glory in heaven, put on flesh, and die for men whom He had created. In dying, the claims of divine justice were balanced.
