"A pocket book for those who come to Moscow for the winter..." is a reprint in modern spelling of a unique book published in 1791. This is an unusual historical document depicting the life and customs of Moscow during the time of Catherine II. If you think that the metropolitan fashion for barbershops, limousines and conspicuous expensive purchases is a hallmark of our time, then you are deeply mistaken. You will be surprised how many funny coincidences there are with the current realities, how many similarities with the near-secular society of Moscow in the 21st century. The author's sarcasm is absolutely modern, the advice is relevant, and the characters are realistic. For greater completeness of perception of the text, we have illustrated the book with reproductions of engravings of the 18th century, mostly caricatured, which depict those same fashionistas and fashionistas, dandies and heliports.
