Anne "Annie" French Hector (1825 – 902) was a Victorian-era popular novelist who wrote under the pen name Mrs. Alexander. As a prolific writer, she created over 40 novels, most of which were the stories of young girls overcoming difficult life situations. Her first novel, Kate Vernon, was published in 1854. Yet, after publishing, she had to make a pause in writing until the death of her husband, who disapproved Annie's writing career. After his death, she resumed writing. In that period, she created A Golden Autumn, A Winning Hazard, Kitty Costello, and many other works.
