Jim Dunn has happily settled into the autumn of his life, unexciting though it may be, until the day Jill Francent walks up to his woodcarving stand at a crafts show and asks him to transform one of the rooms in her house into a library. Intrigued by the challenge - he's never taken on such a big project before - and entranced by her green eyes, he accepts. While he works, Jim and Jill trade life stories and dreams for the future, until Jim realizes, to his chagrin, that he's fallen in love with his client - which is a real problem, because he's been married to Abby for forty years. He resigns himself to loving Jill from afar, but discovers that life, even when you're sixty-nine years old, can still hold some surprises.
