The young lady is a short novel by Emilia Pardo Bazan published in 1885. Set in Marineda, a litrary transcript of La Coruna, it tells the story of two sisters, Dolores and Concha, who face life from different positions. The former, seduced and disgusted, who "e;hated men"e;, takes refuge in the grids of the confessional, while Concha struggles to achieve a higher social position: to go from seamstress to theater artist.
