Africa remains one of the growing developing regions across the globe, which presents the prospect for accelerating businesses for growth and new markets. Despite the enormous opportunities in the continent, increased level of inequality-both gender and income has posed a constrained to transformation and development agenda in most African countries. Though Africa has made progress in some aspects in the last two decades, the progress tends to be a few success stories for people at the uppermost part of the ladder, not for the large proportion of the citizenry especially women and youth in rural communities. Therefore, gender-gap closure (both income and inequality) is seen to be an essential element for the transformation agenda in Africa, and it will enhance inclusive growth and development process. This second part of the ebook on 'Labour Issues in Africa's Agricultural and Rural Transformation' explores these issues, which are central to inclusive transformation and development.
