The lovers, the killers...The infamous.
Would I succumb or flourish? Would I be their next victim or the Bonnie to their Clydes?
My every fear pounded out to the sound of my heartbeat, telling me to run when they arrived covered in blood on my doorstep, but for the life of me I could not. I was drawn to their darkness and drowning in the need to feel what they feel. Their passion a welcome surprise.
Before their arrival on my doorstep, sadness pain and solitude were all that I had endured. I'd hoped for an escape from my small town where I'd been the addicts abandoned daughter, and the slave to a vile rage fuelled grandmother, but it never came. Until them. Salem and Malachi, they were the breath of freedom needed offering a reprieve that could not be denied.
Salem's sweet grin, his mesmerizing, alluring soft eyes drew you in. His sensual touch that offered the boy next door, hid the psychotic soul seeping darkness that clouded any joy. The devil created Salem as his perfect muse for destruction. His angelic beauty was merely a facade for his sinister soul. Unless Malachi was by his side to balance his internal warring.
Malachi needed Salem as much as he needed blood in his veins. The visibly broken man with a damaged smile drew me in, calling me to follow him anywhere. I knew there was a softness to him and that he was a soul not unlike mine. Badly damaged but in need of love that would balance him.
My soul craved the world they offered and their mayhem was a dream I'd gladly chase regardless of consequence. Or so I thought.
It could mean my death.
