Over time, Fredette performed well, but eventually succumbed to a nervous breakdown, which led to a lot of recovery time, where he took to writing one poem per week, for one year. Thus, Latent Heat - A Year's Worth was published.

David Fredette is presently semi-retired from the merchant marine. Several years were spent as an engineering officer, at sea, on our tankers, research vessels, ferries, and toy boats. But there were setbacks due to bipolar disorder. David now copes very well, and lives in Stamford, CT.
