"Lawyers & Lovers" is the second book in "The Tales of Vanity Bench" series. The story picks up after Vanity and Carrie have graduated from Jones. The war is over, and both of the girls have jobs and are in the process of taking their bar exams. They are separate for the first time in four years, with Vanity in NYC and Carrie in Washington. But fate has a way of stepping in and bringing the two girls back together again. Both hell bent on changing the world, which at the time setting of this story is very much still a mans world. It is also a world where being other than heterosexual is something that is kept buried in the closet, something that neither of the girls have ever done. They not only have to prove themselves as young lawyers, but also as young professionals that are able to make it on their own in NYC. Here they get help from Vanity's co-worker with whom she shares an office at a group tasked with developing a fledgling organization at this time in history called the United Nations. Vanity's co-worker, Zohar Ruben shares the same sexual preference as Vanity has, but she has connections in the city, and she is not afraid to use them. Connections that not only allows for the girls to find a safe place to live, but that also provides what eventually become two lesbian couples to live and love in a city that is not always safe for unattached females.

A note to the readers. The photo on the inside of the book is the inspiration for this entire series. I purchased the vanity bench at an auction in Pittsburgh, and the original owner of the bench approached me when I went to pick it up. We talked and he gave me permission to use the photo, which was part of a advertising campaign for Victoria Secrets.
