While most new leadership books proudly promote themselves as the antidote to previous thinking, Leading from the Lions' Den takes pride in drawing its wisdom from ideas that have been available for a very long time in the unchanging Word of God. While most new leadership books proudly promote themselves as the antidote to previous thinking, Leading from the Lions' Den takes pride in drawing its wisdom from ideas that have been available for a very long time in the unchanging Word of God. Here, author Tom R. Harper expounds upon one surprising principle from each of the Bible's sixty-six books. Each concept goes toward explaining human nature, which, when understood, is the foundation of business success.

Among the lessons that will work for leaders regardless of culture, time, or place are: "Lead, Inspire and Motivate with Plain Facts" (Deuteronomy), "Defrag Your Organization by Discovering its Weak Forces" (1 Chronicles), "Fight Superior Force with Superior Character" (Nahum), "Purify Your PR by Avoiding the Spotlight" (Mark), "Help the Competition" (Romans), "Soak Your Shield Before Battle" (Ephesians), and "Obliterate Fear with a Single Weapon" (1 John).

Autorenporträt
I am an avid observer of great leaders. I love to read the latest books on the topic - whether they are written for business, non-profit or the church. The skill set for leaders is basically the same across all these sectors.

Over the years, I have found that the Bible is the ultimate leadership book. It is full of theory as well as illustrations; biographies as well as first-person narratives.

At one point I thought I wanted to go into ministry. Instead, I stayed in business and ended up writing Career Crossover: Leaving the Marketplace for Ministry. I got to talk to many people who crossed over, though it did not end up being my own path.

These days I feel passionate about bringing biblical principles into the marketplace and other secular areas. Biblical concepts work just as well in business, education, non-profit, sports and government anywhere there are leaders.

The problem I see, however, is biblical principles are severely lacking in all these places, including the church.

So what to do about it?

I feel God has been prompting me to spread the Word through practical books and resources. I want to help people see the wisdom and truth contained in the Scriptures.

Most people look at the Bible as a source of spiritual truths, but they fail to realize how practical it is for wise living in the everyday world. They look elsewhere for more leadership guidance, missing the treasure trove right in front of them.

The Bible has much to say about leadership. If you take the time read it, you'll encounter exciting concepts, truisms and promises that could revolutionize your life and leadership.

May you discover the riches waiting for you in God's Word!
