Kit Nongkhlaw graduated from Synod College, Shillong in 1984, worked for a few years as a civilian in Defense Department, Govt. of India, joined the State Bank of India as a probationary officer in 1987, and took voluntary retirement from a senior management position in 2013. Nongkhlaw later worked as finance secretary at John Roberts Theological College, was a Sunday school teacher for over thirty-five years, and has been a church elder since 2005.
