Lessons from My Father for My Son is a handbook that is based on lessons learned from acting as a caretaker for an aging father. Produktbeschreibung
Lessons from My Father for My Son is a handbook that is based on lessons learned from acting as a caretaker for an aging father. The book is a compilation of thoughts and suggestions in the form of poems, lists, and prose which reflect upon the process of aging in general. Sometimes raw, sometimes tender, the book helps the reader to take a peek at the aging process by examining their parents' lives, as well as their own. The author hopes that the handbook might make the surreal nature of taking care of those who took care of us a bit less daunting. She wants to tell adult children, like her son, some things they may not know because they are not yet old. Ms. Manzi wishes that she knew at the onset of her caretaking what she learned, in retrospect, and shares here.

Autorenporträt
Christine Carlisi Manzi was a dedicated educator for thirty years. As an enthusiastic learner, Ms. Manzi is an astute observer of people and the world around her. Writing has always helped her to examine her life. In her previous book, Chick'n Charlie, she examined her journey through her brother's lifelong addiction. Ms. Manzi wrote this little handbook in an attempt to reflect upon her own aging experience and on her role as an adult daughter taking care of her father.
